What ImpactMatrix does for academic institutions
For an academic institution, ImpactMatrix supports three jobs: listing campus surplus — furniture, IT hardware, equipment, food — as Gifts in Kind for community organizations to claim; provisioning student and staff seats from one allotment, with ImpactVolunteer included; and using live alert, disaster-data and needs-assessment layers for preparedness research, service learning and community partnership. Academia pricing is per seat, from $9.99/seat down to $1.00/seat at the Enterprise tier, custom quote at Fortune 1000 scale.
What you can do
Real button and tab names. Nothing here is on a roadmap.
List surplus at semester end — residence furniture, lab and office equipment, IT hardware, dining surplus — with condition, quantity and delivery terms, and approve who claims it.
Bring students, faculty and community partners on from your seat allotment by single email or Bulk Upload CSV, with 30-day invitation expiry.
Live and recent alert, disaster-data and needs-assessment layers for preparedness coursework, research projects and campus emergency planning.
Convene campus, student and community partners in one branded space — useful for service-learning programmes that span several organizations.
Provision student and staff seats from a single allotment shared with ImpactVolunteer, with changes applied at your next bill date.

Why organizations like yours end up here
The problem
Campuses generate large, predictable, high-quality surplus on a fixed calendar and dispose of much of it, because finding recipients who can collect within the window is harder than sending it to auction or landfill.
What the platform does
Structured listings with claim approval, recipients matched by capacity and location, custody on movement, delivery confirmation, and student seats on the same subscription.
The artifact
Documented diversion of campus surplus to named community organizations, with confirmed deliveries — reportable for sustainability and community-engagement offices alike.
Not a surplus auction, not an LMS
Institutional surplus auctions recover cash and are the right tool when that is the goal. Learning management and student information systems own coursework and records. This is the coordination layer: goods to community organizations with proof, plus live data and seats for students doing real coordination work rather than a simulation.
Use ImpactMatrix when
You want campus surplus to reach community organizations with documentation, and students on a live platform.
Use something else when
You need cash recovery through auction, or curriculum, attendance and student records.

Questions
What does ImpactMatrix cost an academic institution?
Academia plans are priced per seat, from $9.99/seat at the smallest tier down to $1.00/seat at the Enterprise tier — pick exactly how many student and staff seats you need. Fortune 1000-scale institutions are by custom quote. Start with the 30-day free trial, which requires no credit card.
What campus surplus moves best?
Furniture, IT hardware, lab and office equipment, and dining surplus. Condition, quantity and a clear pickup window matter more than category, because a recipient can only claim what they can collect inside your window.
Can students have their own access?
Yes. Students and staff are invited from your seat allotment, which is shared with ImpactVolunteer at no extra cost. Seat changes are made on Billing and take effect at the next bill date.
Can we use the data for research or coursework?
The Humanitarian Intelligence Hub provides alert, disaster-data and needs-assessment layers filtered by source, time window and geography, with country preview. It is operational situational awareness rather than a research archive, and ImpactMatrix is not an alerting authority.
Is this a replacement for our surplus auction process?
No, it is an alternative route for the portion of surplus you would rather see used than sold. Cash recovery through auction remains the better tool where that is the objective.
