How Refer & Earn works

Refer & Earn is the referral program on paid ImpactMatrix nonprofit plans. A referring organization earns 20% of the referred organization's subscription fees for 12 months, tracked as Lifetime, Pending and Paid out, and paid through Stripe after connecting a bank account. You share a referral link, an ImpactVolunteer unified-signup link, or send email invitations. Bank details are used only for Refer & Earn payouts.

What you can do

Three ways to refer, one way to get paid.

Referral link

Share your link — in a coalition newsletter, on a VOAD call, in the follow-up email after you've told someone how you're tracking your in-kind now.

ImpactVolunteer signup link

A unified-signup link for the volunteer side, for organizations that come to the platform through people rather than goods.

Invite by email

Send a referral directly to the executive director you've already had this conversation with twice.

Connect Bank via Stripe

Payouts run through Stripe. The bank details you enter are used only for Refer & Earn — nothing else in the platform touches them.

Lifetime / Pending / Paid out

Three tiles show what you've earned, what's queued and what's landed, so it's a line item your finance staff can reconcile rather than a mystery credit.

Why nonprofit-to-nonprofit referral is different

The problem

Nonprofits recommend software to each other constantly and are compensated for it never. Meanwhile the same organizations struggle to fund the tooling line in a grant budget at all.

What the platform does

A referral program that pays 20% of subscription fees for 12 months, with transparent Lifetime, Pending and Paid out tracking, and Stripe payouts.

The artifact

A recurring credit against your own subscription cost, reconcilable in your books — and a network effect that makes your coordination better, because a coordination platform is worth more when your partners are on it.

Not an affiliate scheme bolted onto a product

Generic affiliate tools pay strangers to drive signups. This pays organizations for bringing the partners they already coordinate with onto the same network — which is also the thing that makes the platform work better for the referrer. The incentive and the product logic point the same direction, which is rare enough to say out loud.

Use ImpactMatrix when

You talk to peer organizations regularly and would recommend the platform anyway.

Use something else when

You're looking for general affiliate marketing income unrelated to your mission or network. That isn't what this is built for.

Questions

Can nonprofits earn revenue by referring other organizations?

Yes. On paid ImpactMatrix nonprofit plans, Refer & Earn pays 20% of a referred organization's subscription fees for 12 months. Earnings appear as Lifetime, Pending and Paid out totals, and payouts are made through Stripe once you connect a bank account.

How much does Refer & Earn pay?

The program pays 20% of the referred organization's subscription fees for 12 months. Because nonprofit plans are seat-based, the amount depends on the plan and seat count the referred organization chooses. Nothing beyond that 20% for 12 months is promised.

How are payouts handled?

Payouts run through Stripe. You connect a bank account inside the Refer & Earn module, and those bank details are used only for Refer & Earn payouts — no other part of the platform uses them. Lifetime, Pending and Paid out tiles track the state of your earnings.

What can I share as a referral?

You get a referral link, an ImpactVolunteer unified-signup link for organizations arriving through the volunteer side, and the option to invite by email. Any of the three attributes the referral back to your organization.

Do I need a paid plan to refer?

Refer & Earn is available on paid nonprofit plans, so start the free 30-day trial — no credit card — and choose a plan from the dashboard when you're ready. Nonprofit plans begin at $29.99 per month for a single user.
