On 27 July 2026, an EF3 tornado tore through the Fox Cities region of northeast Wisconsin with little advance warning, striking Menasha, Neenah, Fox Crossing and Appleton. Homes lost roofs, trees and power lines came down, and thousands were left without power. Three Fox Valley communities declared states of emergency, and a curfew and boil-water order were issued. No deaths were reported and injuries were relatively few. Recovery is in its early-to-mid phase. Coordinated needs centre on housing and shelter, food, health and wellbeing, and financial assistance. Around 1,500 volunteers turned out in the first days. Organisations responding include United Way Fox Cities, the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, Samaritan's Purse, Feeding America and Operation BBQ Relief.
